Background :
The transcriptional repressor BMI-1 was first identified as a proto-oncogene that cooperates with c-myc in the generation of lymphomas in murine models. BMI-1 belongs to the Polycomb-group (PcG) family of proteins involved in axial patterning, hematopoeisis, cell growth, and senescence. A major target of BMI-1 is the INK4A/ARF locus which encodes tumor suppressor proteins p16 and p19ARF. Studies have also shown that BMI-1 is overexpressed in numerous human cancers, including lymphomas, breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers.
Immunogen :
Synthetic peptide corresponding to the sequence near the middle of human BMI-1.
