Background :

GSTMu1 (Glutathione S-transferase Mu 1) is involved in the inactivation of a large spectrum of carcinogens that are ever-present in the environment. GSTMu1 has been found to be a negative regulator of MEKK1 activity after cellular stress. GSTMu1 has also been shown to inhibit the activity of apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1), and may have an additional function of regulating stress-mediated signals. Recently GSTMu1 has been linked to increased airway inflammation.
