Human
Background :
Coagulation factor IX, also known as Christmas factor or Plasma thromboplastin component (PTC), and encoded by the gene name F9, circulates in the blood as an inactive zymogen. This factor is converted to an active form by factor XIa, which excises the activation peptide and thus generates a heavy chain and a light chain held together by one or more disulfide bonds. The role of this activated factor IX in the blood coagulation cascade is to activate factor X to its active form through interactions with Ca+2 ions, membrane phospholipids, and factor VIII. Alterations of this protein, including point mutations, insertions and deletions, cause factor IX deficiency, which is a recessive X-linked disorder, also called hemophilia B or Christmas disease.
ALT Names :
Coagulation factor IX, Christmas factor, Plasma thromboplastin component, PTC
Immunogen :
Synthetic peptide corresponding to human Factor IX.
Package Size :
100 µL
Uses :
Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry
Storage :
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
