Background :

Dendritic cell-specific ICAM-3-grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) is a C-type lectin and has a high affinity for ICAM3 molecules that plays roles in both cell-cell and host-pathogen interactions. DC-SIGN is a type II membrane protein. It is expressed on dendritic cells and mediates the interaction between dendritic cells and resting T cells. Viruses target DC-SIGN to promote infection and spread to other cells.
