Background :

Interleukin-2 receptor subunit alpha (IL-2Rα or CD25) is a single-pass type I membrane protein containing 2 Sushi (CCP/SCR) domains and is one of three chains comprising IL-2R complex. IL-2Rα is a critical component of this complex as it is necessary for determining IL-2 binding. It is also an important factor in the development and proliferation of T cells. Studies have shown IL-2Rα to be down-regulated in cancer patients, suggesting an important role for IL-2Rα in the function of tumor-reactive cytotoxic lymphocytes.
