Background :
Interleukin-3 receptor subunit alpha (IL3RA), also known as CD123 or IL-3R subunit alpha or IL-3R alpha or IL-3RA is a single-pass type 1 membrane protein that belongs to the type 1 cytokine receptor family. CD123 is a receptor for Interleukin 3. The binding of CD123 to IL3 is dependent on the beta subunit. The beta subunit is activated by the ligand binding and is required for the biological activities of IL3. CD123 is expressed by myeloid precursors, macrophages, dendritic cells, mast cells, basophils, megakaryocytes, and some B cells.
