Background :

Interleukin 8 Receptor beta (IL-8R), also known as CXCR2, is a type of G-protein coupled receptor and binds to interleukin 8 with high affinity to tranduce the signal thorugh a G-protein activated secondary messenger system. Knockout studies shows IL-8R alleviates both replicative and oncogene-induced senescence and diminishes the DNA-damage response. Ectopic expression results in premature senescence through a p53-dependent mechanism.
