Myoblast determination protein 1 (MyoD1) is also called Class C basic helix-loop-helix protein 1 (bHLHc1) and Myogenic factor 3 (Myf-3). MyoD1 is involved in muscle differentiation by inducing fibroblasts to differentiate into myoblasts. MyoD1 also activates muscle-specific promoters and interacts with twist protein.
