Background :

CD150 (also known as signaling lymphocyte activation molecule [SLAM] family member 1) is a self-ligand cell surface glycoprotein expressed on T cells, B cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD150 plays an important role in adhesion and signaling between T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs), and it is involved in two major immune functions: costimulation of T-cell proliferation and augmentation of the interferon response. CD150 is the prototypical member of a growing family of glycoprotein receptors on hematopoietic stem cells known as the SLAM family, which includes CD229, CD84, CD244, SF2000/Ly108, SF2001, and 19A(CRACC). Members of this family are defined by one or more cytoplasmic tyrosine motifs.
