Background :

Oct proteins belong to the POU domain transcription factor family (for review see, Herr et al. (1995) Genes and Dev. 9:1679-1693). POU domain is a bipartite module containing POU homeo and POU specific subdomains, identified in more than 30 nuclear proteins that recognize relative cis-elements in promoters, enhancers and silencers of many genes. Oct-1 and Oct-2 proteins recognize the octamer consensus sequence ATGCAAAT and with lower affinity for oct-related sequences.

Immunogen :

Full length recombinant human Oct-1 protein.

Specificity :

Reacts with Oct-1. Recognizes a ~96kDa protein in nuclear extracts of HeLa cells.
