Background :

Interleukin enhancer-binding factor 2 (ILF2) is a relatively novel protein that seems to primarily function as part of a heterodimer in complex with ILF3. This complex is thought to act as a transcriptional regulator during T-cell activation for the IL2 gene and as a promoter for the building of stable complexes of DNA-dependent protein kinase holoenzymes on DNA. Potentially, the ILF2-ILF3 heterodimer may function to stabilize the interactions between other complexes, such as PRKDC/XRCC7 and G22p1/KU70 and XRCC5/KU80, when ILF2-ILF3 binds to PRKDC/XRCC7. ILF2 is phosphorylated in response to DNA damage.
