Background :

Ras GTPase-activating-like protein IQGAP1 (IQGAP1) is also called p195. IQGAP1 binds activated CDC42 without stimulating GTPase activity, and associates with calmodulin. IQGAP1 is thought to be an assembly scaffold for the organization of the actin cytoskeleton at the plasma membrane, and may promote neurite outgrowth. IQGAP1 is expressed in the placenta, lung, and kidney, and at a lower level in the heart, liver, skeletal muscle and pancreas.
