Background :

von Willebrand Factor (vWF) is synthesized by endothelial cells, causing adhesion of platelets to injured vessel walls and functions as a carrier and stabilizer for coagulation of Factor VIII. It is one of the most widely used endothelial cell markers for studying angiogenesis / neovascularization. Millipore's von Willebrand Factor antibody reacts specifically with the endothelial cells of blood vessels and is a useful marker for the identification of endothelial lineage in tumors.

Human von Willebrand Factor purified from plasma.

Specificity :

AB7356 is specific for vWF by ELISA against the human protein and by immunohistochemistry. The antibody is reactive in paraffin embedded tissues on human, rat, and mouse. Other species not tested. Antibody has not been evaluated by western blot analysis for reactivity to vWF.
