Background :

PAT2, also known as Tramdorin-1, is a protein that belongs to the amino acid/polyamine transporter 2 family. PAT2 is believed to be involved in a pH-dependent electrogenic neuronal transport and sequestration of small amino acids such as glycine, alanine and proline. PAT2 is found expressed in lung, spleen, and to a lower extent in brain, heart, kidney and skeletal muscle. PAT2 can be inhibited by sarcosine, pipecolic acid, D-pipecolic acid or isonipecotic acid.
