Peptide to the N-terminal region (amino acids 14-33) of the S182 protein.

Specificity :

Recognizes the N-terminal region of the Presenilin-1 protein. The Presenilin-1 gene was recently discovered on chromosome 14 and is responsible for an early onset form of Alzheimer's. It is a membrane protein that has a region where at least seven mutations have been identified in family members with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The peptide used to produce AB1575 corresponds to the N terminus of this protein, which is exposed to the extracellular region. This antiserum should be a valuable tool for scientist who will be working to discover the function of this protein in normal individuals and its role in Alzheimer's disease.
