Background :

A cell-permeable phenylthiazole compound that acts as a potent, reversible and ATP-competitive PI 3,4-K family selective inhibitor (IC 50 = 16, 19, 39 and 64 nM for p110gamma, PI 4-KIIIbeta, p110alpha and DNA-PK, respectively). Moderately inhibits p110delta, PI 3-KC2beta, hsVPS34, ATM, p110beta and PI 4-KIIIalpha (IC 50 = 0.120, 0.140, 0.320, 0.490, 0.590 and 1.1 uM, respectively) with minimal inhibition towards a panel of 36-kinases (IC 50 10 uM). Shown to block ceramide transfer protein-mediated ceramide traffic between endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi in transfected COS-7 cells at 250 nM.
