Background :
Protein tyrosine phosphorylation was first described in 1979. Large numbers of tyrosine kinases have been described since, and many of the signaling pathways initiated by tyrosine phosphorylation have been delineated. Availability of a top-quality anti-phosphotyrosine antibody has allowed the study of tyrosine kinase activity by simple blotting procedures, and without routine need of large quantities of radioactivity. The 4G10® monoclonal anti-phosphotyrosine antibody (Cat. # 05-321) has been widely recognized as a highly specific and sensitive. This antibody is suitable for all applications involving protein tyrosine phosphorylation. The slightly less sensitive, but still highly regarded clone PY20 can be used as an alternative to the 4G10® product line.
