Background :

The class II phosphoinositide 3-kinase beta (PI3K-C2) is a member of the PI3K family of enzymes and is thought to play a role in the creation of 3’ phosphoinositides after the activation of polypeptide growth factor receptors. PI3K-C2activation during liver growth causes increased levels of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate in cell nuclei and may be regulated by calpain. The proline-rich motifs in the N-terminus of PI3K-C2 is thought to associate with epidermal growth factor and this could also include the Grb2 adaptor. It has also been shown that PI3K-C2 may play a role in a signaling pathway for cell migration. Recent research has also found that PI3K-C2 may be essential in T-cell activation.
