Background :

Toll-interacting protein (TOLLIP) is a novel protein belonging to the tollip family of proteins and is comprised of a C2 domain and a CUE domain. It is involved in the signaling pathways for Toll-like receptors and IL-1 receptor, and serves to inhibit microbial product induced cell activation. TOLLIP interacts with IRAK1, forming a complex with the IL-1 receptor in resting cells. It is also a substrate for IRAK1 phosphorylation.
