Purified
Isotype :
IgG1
Product Description :
Anti-β-Tubulin Antibody, clone AA2
Cross Reactivity :
Human;Rat;Mouse;Bovine
Background :
Microtubules are constituent parts of the mitotic apparatus, cilia, flagella, and elements of the cytoskeleton. They consist principally of 2 soluble proteins, alpha- and beta-tubulin, each about 55 kDa in size. Antibodies against beta Tubulin are useful as loading controls for Western Blotting. However it should be noted that levels of beta Tubulin may not be stable in certain cells. For example, expression of tubulin in adipose tissue is very low (Spiegelman and Farmer, Cell, 1982, 29(1):53-60) and therefore beta Tubulin should not be used as loading control for these tissues.
ALT Names :
Tubulin beta-5 chain;beta 5-tubulin;beta Ib tubulin;beta-4 tubulin;tubulin beta polypeptide;tubulin beta-1 chain;tubulin, beta;tubulin, beta polypeptide
Immunogen :
Purified bovine brain tubulin. The epitope recognized by this antibody has been mapped to amino acids 412-430.
Specificity :
This antibody recognizes β-Tubulin isotypes I, II, III, IVa, and IVb of ~50 kDa. No cross-reactivity with alpha or gamma tubulin.
Package Size :
200 µg
Uses :
Western Blotting
Storage :
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20ºC. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20ºC may cause glycerol-containing solutions to become frozen during storage
