Product Description :
Anti-p53 Antibody, clone E26, rabbit monoclonal
Cross Reactivity :
Human;Rat
Background :
The p53 gene is mutated in approximately half of all human cancers. It is involved in the cellular response to cytotoxic stresses, and together with p19ARF, induces expression of p21Cip1, to cause cell cycle arrest. In addition, p53 is able to induce apoptosis, both by transcriptional and non-transcriptional mechanisms. The amino-terminal 83 amino acids of p53 contain the transactivation domain, as well as the region involved in transcription-independent growth suppression. The carboxy-terminal region contains the DNA-binding domain, which is regulated by three phosphorylation events, and potentially by acetylation.
ALT Names :
Antigen NY-CO-13 ;Phosphoprotein p53 ;Tumor suppressor p53 ;p53 antigen;p53 transformation suppressor;p53 tumor suppressor ;transformation-related protein 53;tumor protein p53
Immunogen :
Synthetic peptide directed against the area C-terminal to the transactivation domain of human p53.
Specificity :
This antibody recognizes p53, internal region.
Package Size :
100 μL
Uses :
Western Blotting;Immunocytochemistry;Immunohistochemistry
Storage :
Stable for 1 year at -20ºC from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
