Background :

Cdc25A, B and C are dual-specificity phosphatases that activate cyclin-dependent kinases by removing inhibitory phosphates. Their activity is timed at specific points in the cell cycle, to ensure appropriate cell cycle progression, and the checkpoint kinases activated by DNA damage or other replication blocks, phosphorylate and inhibit the cdc25 proteins.
