Background :

The progesterone receptor (PR) is a steroid receptor that binds progesterone. Estrogen must be present in order to induce the progesterone receptor. There are two isoforms of PR: PR-A and PR-B which share similar binding afffinities; however, they have opposite transcriptional activities.
