Product Description :
Anti-β-Catenin (NT) Antibody, clone E247, rabbit monoclonal
Cross Reactivity :
Human;Mouse
Background :
Β-Catenin links Cadherin cell adhesion proteins to the cytoskeleton and has recently been implicated in the Wnt/Wingless signaling pathway and in the progression of neoplasia. β-Catenin associates with the tumor suppressor Adenomatous Polypopsis Coli (APC) and functions as a co-activator of the TCF transcription factor family. It is regulated by Glycogen Synthase Kinase (GSK) 3b, which phosphorylates and targets β-Catenin for ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis. Stabilization of β-Catenin, either by Wnt-mediated inhibition of GSK3b or by mutation (as found in numerous colorectal tumors and melanoma cell lines), results in activation of TCF responsive genes which are thought to play key roles in development and cancer progression. δ-Catenin (NPRAP/Neurojungin), a member of the p120 Catenin subfamily, is a structural protein involved in neuronal development. It interacts with Actin, Cortactin and Src Kinases to promote neurite elongation or branching, depending upon its phosphorylation state.
ALT Names :
catenin (cadherin-associated protein), beta 1 (88kD) ;catenin (cadherin-associated protein), beta 1, 88kDa;catenin beta-1
Immunogen :
Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the N-terminus of human β-catenin.
Specificity :
This antibody recognizes β-catenin at and around the N-terminus.
Package Size :
100 μL
Uses :
Immunohistochemistry;Western Blotting;Immunocytochemistry;Immunoprecipitation
Storage :
Stable for 1 year at -20ºC from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
