The protein is 177 amino acids in length and differs from the 178 amino acid length of native IL-11 only in lacking the amino-terminal praline residue.IL-11 is a thrombopoietic growth factor that directly stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells and induces megakaryocyte maturation resulting in increased platelet production. IL-11 is a member of a family of human growth factors which includes human growth hormone, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and other growth factors.

Storage :
Lyophilized rHuIL-11 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 C. Upon reconstitution rHuIL-11 should be stored at 4 C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
