Recombinant Human RGMC (aa 36-398) produced in HEK 293 cells is fused at the N-terminus to a linker peptide (8 aa) and a FLAG-tag.The RGMC (also called Hemojuvelin) is an GPI-anchored protein involved in the iron metabolism through regulation of hepcidin expression. Mutations in the gene encoding RGMC cause severe iron overload (juvenile hemochromatosis /hemochromatosis type 2A). The protein binds to neogenin and acts as co-receptor of the bone morphogenetic protein. The mature RGMc protein is proteolytically processed and glycosylated.
