Description :
GsαS is the short splice variant of theα-subunit of stimulatory heterotrimeric Gs-proteins. In contrast to the long splice variant (GsαL) GsαS lacks the 15-amino acid insert between the Ras like and the α-helical domain. GsαS activates adenylate cyclase (AC) and possesses a higher GDP-affinity than GsαL. The differences in GDP-binding between GsαS and GsαL have important consequences for receptor/G-protein coupling and activation.
