Cell Culture
Description :
BAFF (B-cell Activation Factor), also known as Tumor Necrosis Factor Superfamily member 13B (TNFSF13B), is expressed in B cell lineage cells and acts as a potent B cell activator. It has been also shown to play an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells. Mouse BAFF Recombinant Protein is purified b-cell activation factor produced in yeast.

Synonyms :
Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B; B-cell-activating factor; BAFF; CD257; Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13b, membrane form; Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13b, soluble form; Tnfsf13b; Baff
Protein Function :
Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI and TNFRSF17/BCMA. TNFSF13/APRIL binds to the same 2 receptors. Together, they form a 2 ligands -2 receptors pathway involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity. A third B-cell specific BAFF-receptor (BAFFR/BR3) promotes the survival of mature B-cells and the B-cell response.
Subcellular Localization :
Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity :
Isoform 2 is expressed in many myeloid cell lines.
Research Category :
Adaptive Immunity, B Cells, Cancer, Cytokines, Growth Factors, Growth Factors/Hormones, Immunology, Innate Immunity, Non-Cd, Signal Transduction, Tnf Superfamily
