Protein Name :
Peroxiredoxin-6
Molecular Weight :
25035 MW
Protein Function :
Involved in redox regulation of the cell. Can reduce H (2)O (2) and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. May play a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury.
Subcellular Localization :
Cytoplasm. Lysosome. Cytoplasmic vesicle. Also found in lung secretory organelles.
Recommended Detection Systems :
Boster recommends Enhanced Chemiluminescent Kit with anti-Rabbit IgG (EK1002) for Western blot, and HRP Conjugated anti-Rabbit IgG Super Vision Assay Kit (SV0002-1) for IHC(P) and ICC.
Sequence Similarities :
Belongs to the AhpC/TSA family. Rehydrin subfamily.
Background :
PRDX6 is also known as PRX, p29 or AOP2. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the thiol-specific antioxidant protein family. This protein is a bifunctional enzyme with two distinct active sites. It is involved in redox regulation of the cell; it can reduce H (2)O (2) and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. It may play a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury.
