Description :
Boster Bio Anti-human CD8 Cd8a Monoclonal Antibody FITC Conjugated, Flow Validated catalog # FC02236-FITC. Tested in Flow Cytometry applications. This antibody reacts with Human. Introduction: The clone OKT-8 is a 32-34kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The OKT-8 binds with CD8α forms either a homodimer (2 alpha chains) or a heterodimer with CD8β and is expressed on the surface of cytotoxic T cells, NK cells, cortical thymocytes, and also on some dendritic cells. CD8 functions as a co-receptor for T cell receptor and specifically binds to class I MHC for antigen recognition and T cell activation. This antibody is routinely tested by flow cytometric analysis. Flow cytometry and other applications were tested during antibody development by Boster or are reported in the literature. Application Information: Each lot of this antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of human PBMCs such that 5µl of this product is sufficient for staining of 1 million cells in a 100µl staining volume or 100µl of whole blood. It is recommended that antibody reactivity be empirically titrated for optimal performance in the application of interest.

27456 MW
Protein Function :
Identifies cytotoxic/suppressor T-cells that interact with MHC class I bearing targets. CD8 is thought to play a role in the process of T-cell mediated killing. CD8 alpha chains binds to class I MHC molecules alpha-3 domains.
Subcellular Localization :
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Background :
The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. It is mapped to 2p11.2. The CD8 antigen, acting as a coreceptor, and the T-cell receptor on the T lymphocyte recognize antigen displayed by an antigen presenting cell (APC) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor is either a homodimer composed of two alpha chains, or a heterodimer composed of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene also encodes the CD8 alpha chain isoforms.
