WB: The detection limit for Syndecan 4 is approximately 0.1ng/lane under reducing conditions. Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users.

Immunogen :

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human Syndecan 4 (172-198aa MKKKDEGSYDLGKKPIYKKAPTNEFYA), identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.

Contents :

Each vial contains 5mg BSA, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg NaN3.

Purification :

Immunogen affinity purified.

Reconstitution :

Add 0.2ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500ug/ml.

Storage :

At -20˚C for one year. After reconstitution, at 4˚C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20˚C for a longer time. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Relevant detection systems :

Background :

Syndecan 4 is also known as SDC4. The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-1 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length natures of only two have been described to date. These two represent the major variants of this gene and encode the same protein.
