TYRP1, a melanosmal enzyme belonging to the tyrosinase family plays an important role in the melanin biosynthetic pathway. This enzyme can help influence the type of melanin that is synthesized. There is also substantial evidence that this protein can maintain stability of tyrosinase proliferation and melanocyte cell death.
