Background :

The leukocyte antigen L1 (Calprotectin) is exprimed by myeloid cells, neutrophilic granulocytes, monocytes and reactive tissue macrophages. In blood smears it is detected in granulocytes and monocytes, but not in B- and T-lymphocytes.
