Background :

EGFR, the receptor for Epidermal Growth Factor is a transmembrane glycoprotein (170 kDa). The receptor is located on a variety of cell membranes especially in the epidermis. Overexpression is found in carcinoma of the lung, mamma, bladder, oesophagus, cervix, ovary, vulva, and endometrium. The majority of these are squamous epithelial carcinoma.
