This antibody was raised against vimentin isolated from bovine eye lens.

Application Notes :

This antibody is effective in immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). *Predicted MW = 55-60 kD **Use 20 min heat-induced epitope retrieval and 30 min incubation at room temperature with the primary antibody In Western blotting of cytoskeletal proteins from Xenopus laevis, kidney epithelial cells, and erythrocytes, the antibody labels a band of ~57 kD corresponding to vimentin. No labelling was observed of other intermediate filaments. The antibody reacts with an epitope that has been localized to the coil 2 part of the vimentin rod domain. As demonstrated by immunocytochemistry on frozen as well as formalin-fixed tissues, the antibody cross-reacts with the vimentin equivalent protein in human, chicken, cow, dog, hamster, horse, monkey, rabbit, rat and Xenopus laevis.
