Cell cluster area (e), number of nuclei per cluster (f), and average desmoplakin positive area (g) were measured and compared between the two coatings. Cardiomyocytes had an increased cluster area and number of nuclei at both day 35 and 112. At day 112, the average desmoplakin immunoreactive area was significantly greater on the cardiac matrix, with localization observed at the lateral ends of the cardiomyocytes (arrows), indicating the formation of desmosomes and a more mature phenotype. **p PLoS ONE 5(9): e13039 .
