Soluble toxoplasma components in PBS. Toxoplasma organisms are harvested by centrifugation, washed in PBS and extracted using ether. Residual ether is removed from aqueous phase by bubbling with nitrogen gas. The resulting antigen preparation contains soluble toxoplasma components in PBS. This antigen preparation contains a high concentration of disrupted tachyzoites in PBS without detergent or preservative. Some residual biological components from mouse ascites are present.
