Binds DNA. Fusion construct of XGATA4 with the repressive domain of XTRPS1, which encodes two Ikaros type zinc fingers. Despite slight sequence variation, the gene is still GATA4. Xenopus being a tetraploid species and one that is not inbred, there is minor drift among alleles and our clone was probably derived from such a variant allele. The homology remains sound and the function is intact.
