Background :

Microtubules of the eukaryotic cytoskeleton perform essential and diverse functions and are composed of a heterodimer of M-NM-1-tubulin and M-NM-2-tubulin. Alpha Tubulin expression is reduced in cells deficient in MeCP2, leading to conditions such as Rett syndrome and autistic-spectrum disorders.
