KLF9 (Krueppel-like factor 9) is a transcription factor that binds to GC box promoter elements. The interaction of this protein with a single GC box inhibits mRNA expression. In contrast, binding to tandemly repeated GC box elements activates transcription. This protein is a member of the Sp1 C2H2 zinc finger protein family.
